Since she has been able to pick up a pen, Ashley has been writing poetry and song lyrics to her life. Born in New York, Ashley moved to Florida at 12 years old. Her poetry is heavily influenced by the contrasting lifestyle of a quick-paced Manhattan, to a beachy Miami. Ashley is a 21-year-old published poet, teaching artist, and youth advocate dedicated to empowering the next generation through the arts. Her debut poetry chapbook reached number one in Hispanic American Poetry on Amazon upon its release in 2024, following early publication in P’an Ku literary arts magazine in 2022.

Currently, Ashley is pursuing a degree in Business Government and Leadership at Florida International University, with a focus on public health and non-profit administration. She is working towards a career as a full-time educator and education policy advocate. Outside of her artistic and academic pursuits, Ashley remains deeply committed to youth mental health advocacy, educational equity, volunteering, and community fundraising through distance running.

In the after hours of her substitute teaching position, she remains highly active in the South Florida/Miami poetry scene performing at open mics.

Ashley’s journey with the Jason Taylor Foundation began in 2022 at the Lyrical Lounge, JTF’s teen open mic held monthly through its bluapple Poetry Network. She then went on to compete in Louder Than A Bomb Florida (LTABFLA) in 2023 with the West Broward High School team. After volunteering with the Jason Taylor Foundation and LTABFLA events, Ashley transitioned into her current role as a Teaching Artist—now in her third season—where she mentors young poets to find their unique creative voices and sustain spoken word culture.
